Installation Guide

We are excited to let you start using EcoShot. Before proceeding with the installation, please check you are using:

  1. VStitcher 2020 May Edition Hotfix 1 (2020.2.1) or above
  2. Browzwear Cloud licenses
  • If you encounter a "Failed to load plugin" error, it is usually due to a Browzwear license API / Open Platform issue.

Registering your account on the EcoShot Image Hub

  1. After receiving an invitation from either Metail or your company's Group Administrator, please register your own account on the EcoShot Image Hub
  2. Go to the Download Plugin tab and download the latest version of the Ecoshot plugin software
  3. Go to the Profile tab and generate an activation code to use during plugin installation

Installing the EcoShot Plugin for VStitcher

There are three sets of assets which need to be installed for the EcoShot Plugin to work correctly:

  1. Metail Lighting
  2. Metail Camera Viewpoints
  3. EcoShot Plugin

The instructions below outline how to install each of these items.

Unzip EcoShot Bundle

Please unzip the EcoShot plugin downloaded from the EcoShot Image Hub:

  • on Windows, right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All;
  • on macOS, double-click the ZIP file.

That will create a folder called EcoShot-<version-number>. Check that inside that folder you have:

  • a folder called assets - this contains the lighting and camera files;
  • a folder called MetailPreview - this contains the plugin.

Importing Metail Lighting

  • In the VStitcher Menu Bar click: 3D Environment > Lights > Edit Lights

  • Click on the hdr dropdown > Add new file…

  • Find EcoShot Studio v0.hdr in the assets folder from the zip file
  • Click Open
  • Wait for HDR to load
  • Ensure the Exposure is set to 0 and the angle of rotation is also 0.

  • Repeat the light installation process for EcoShot Studio v1.hdr, which can be found in the same assets folder.

Importing Metail Cameras

  • In the Menu Bar click: 3D Environment > 3D View > Edit / Add…

  • Click on the Blue dropdown button next to Current box

  • Click on Import
  • Find M-V0-front.vcampos in the assets folder from the zip file
  • Click Open
  • Repeat this process for the other camera M-V4-back.vcampos

Install EcoShot Plugin

  • Open VStitcher, and go to Preferences (on Mac: VStitcher→Preferences; on Windows: Edit→Preferences)

  • Go to the Plugins tab and click the + button.

  • Select the MetailPreview folder on disk and click OK (Note: if you encounter a "Failed to load plugin" error, please visit this page)
  • Close Preferences. Go to the Plugins menu and select EcoShot->Settings

Enter in your activation code generated from the EcoShot Image Hub and click Submit.

If you encounter any problems, please use the chat feature in the EcoShot Image Hub to contact us:

You should see a list of new avatars. Click Install and your Metail EcoShot avatars will be installed automatically. The log in the Settings window will let you know once installation is complete. Note that the plugin won't work unless all avatars are installed.

If you do not see the new avatars, please refresh the list of avatars by clicking 'Closet' and then 'Avatars' again.

You are now ready to use EcoShot!

Next steps

Before requesting an EcoShot image, you can create a Draft. The Draft is a preview rendered on your machine and allows you to check you are happy with how the 3D garment appears. This helps to save time and money by letting you make changes to the Browzwear garment before requesting an EcoShot image.
