Setting up Walmart suppliers for success

Setting up Walmart suppliers for success

Please follow this guide to check that you will be able to create compelling EcoShot images before the start of your two week trial. It should only take you between 5-10 minutes.

1. Decide which outfit you wish to test with EcoShot

EcoShot allows you to dress real people with your 3D garments. You therefore need to select a complete outfit that will look good when shown on a person. If the 3D garment you wish to showcase is a top, you need to pair it will some 3D bottoms to avoid your EcoShot image looking half dressed!

2. Dress your existing avatar with the outfit

If you are not already familiar with the feature, this Browzwear article explains how you can create an outfit in VStitcher. Afterwards, please prepare the outfit around your existing fit avatar and dress as normal.

3. Download and unzip the Metail Test Package

Please download the following Metail Test Package and unzip it:

  • on Windows, right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All;
  • on macOS, double-click the ZIP file.

That will create a folder called Metail-Test-v0.1.0. Check that inside that folder you have:

  • a folder called assets - this contains a lighting and camera file;

4. Import and load the Metail camera

  • In the Menu Bar click: 3D Environment > 3D View > Edit / Add…

  • Click on the blue dropdown button next to Current box

  • Click on Import
  • Find M-V0-front.vcampos in the assets folder from the zip file
  • Click Open

5. Import and load the EcoShot lighting

  • In the VStitcher Menu Bar click: 3D Environment > Lights > Edit Lights

  • Click on hdr dropdown > Add new file…

  • Find EcoShot Studio v0.hdr in the assets folder from the zip file
  • Click Open
  • Wait for HDR to load
  • Ensure the Exposure is set to 0 and the angle of rotation is also 0.

  • Repeat the light installation process for EcoShot Studio v1.hdr, which can be found in the same assets folder.

This light environment was captured during the photography shoot. It therefore ensures that the lighting on the 3D garments will be consistent with the lighting on the model photograph.

6. Create a V-Ray ray trace render of your outfit

EcoShot uses V-Ray ray trace renders as an input for EcoShot. If the correct material settings are used, ray trace renders provide a more accurate visual representation than VStitcher’s 3D window and normal renders. This is because ray trace renders mimic how light works in real life and adds information that isn’t seen in the VStitcher 3D window or normal renders.

Now that you are using the EcoShot lighting and camera view, you can use VStitcher’s in-built integration with V-Ray to check that the outfit appears as expected when rendered.

  • Go to the 3D window
  • On the 3D toolbar, click the V-Ray camera logo

The V-Ray ray trace render window will appear:

  • After Resume appears in the toolbar, press the button to continue the ray trace simulation for a more accurate result
  • Repeat the step again after Resume appears for a second time
  • After Resume appears for a third time, press Save Image to open a file explorer window and save the results in a memorable location

7. Check fabric and seam settings if the ray trace does not look as you expect

If VStitcher users do not normally review ray trace renders, the results of the render might look different to what they expect. A frequent cause of this are displacement maps which are used in ray trace renders but not in normal renders or VStitcher's 3D window. If you do not think that the render looks correct, please refer to the following articles for suggestions on how to use VStitcher to improve results:

  1. Set up your fabrics correctly for ray trace rendering
  2. Create true to life seams and trims

Remember to repeat step 6 after changing any settings to check that your outfit now renders as you would expect.

8. Contact Metail and include the render of your outfit

Once you have completed the steps above, please email ecoshot-support@metail.com to let us know that you are ready to begin the EcoShot trial.

Please attach a copy of the ray trace render of your selected outfit along and let us know if you are happy with the quality of the render.

9. Wait to receive EcoShot installation instructions

We will review the render and any messages shared with us. If we are confident you are set up to create compelling EcoShot images, we will send you installation instructions.

If there is anything preventing you from creating compelling EcoShot images, we will contact you and aim to overcome these issues before the start of your EcoShot trial.
